Hips’ Happenings, #15

Happy Spring, Dear Sponsors and Tabby’s Place Fans!   Welcome to my latest update.

Treatos for me from the Cat in the Hat!

Spring is a time for rebirth and new growth.  My spring, this year, is a little bittersweet.  My dear volunteer friend, Larry, left Tabby’s Place after 17 years (that’s older than I am…) to move to Iowa to be with family in his senior years.

Larry would come to the sanctuary at least twice a week, sit with us, and give us pets and love…  I will miss my friend, but I know he is happy in his new space and that we are all only a Facebook page away.

But, life goes on.

My friend, Larry

Here at the sanctuary, we just had a special Paws to Read event at Tabby’s Place to celebrate Read Across America Day, which is on the birthday of Dr. Seuss!  We had such a wonderful day.  People—young and old—came to meet all of us and to read to us and give us love and pets.  I got some extra treatos from this man wearing a big Dr. Seuss hat.  And there were goodies for the visitors, as well as Tabby’s Place merchandise such as t-shirts and mugs for them to buy.  We had a great time and I had to take one of my naps after all the folks left.

I’m king of the world! (or at least the lobby..)

So, we have this contraption on the bookshelf in the lobby that is a picture frame that has moving pictures of the kitties here at Tabby’s…And guess who I saw…yep, you guessed it…MOI….little ole me…wow, I always knew I was a handsome guy, but I never really saw just how handsome I was until that picture popped up in that frame.  (I guess you can tell I have a pretty big ego…LOL!)  So when you visit Tabby’s Place, you have to check out the frame and see me and my buds.

Aren’t I the most handsome dude?

My friend, Mary Anne, came to visit me the other day and I was asleep in the cat tree in the lobby.  Olive was guarding the door and Prescott was asleep on the desk.  The volunteers were busy cleaning and changing our beds and blankies and Miss Grecca was howling for more food (which she got and promptly ate right up).  She came over to my crate and kept yelling at me to move, but I wasn’t having it.  I just kept one eye on her and the other one closed until she left.

About 10 minutes later, I decided to wake up and move on over to the reception desk.  Mary Anne was busy petting Maurice and Carrot and this big, floofy kitty who is on food restrictions (a nice way to say “diet”).  But she came back into the lobby and gave me love and pets before I gave in to my second naptime of the day. (we kitties do sleep a lot, about 15 hours a day)

So, dear sponsors, please come to visit us at the sanctuary if you can and I will be happy to guide you through the lobby and be sure to show you the moving picture frame. And then I can get more pets and love.  Have a wonderful spring and celebrate with your friends and family all the holidays we have coming up.

We kitties need LOTS of sleep to have energy for our antics!

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that my leg is still bothering me a bit and sometimes I am limping.  But not to worry, as the staff is on it.  And I am still having those digestive bouts whenever I get into the food I should not have.  Know that I am just fine here and that I look forward to meeting you all. Have a bright and beautiful spring, filled with the smell of flowers and chirping of birds!

Love to all and kitty purrs and kisses from me,
Hips
