Update for Hips

My work in decorating the tree is second to none!

Hips’ Happenings, # 13

Happy January, Dear Sponsors, and Tabby’s Place Fans!

I am so glad 2023 is over as now I can get in some much-needed R&R…( LOL!)  Let me explain…

New toy! We are sooooo loved to get all these toys.

First, the whole fall has been so busy for me.  As you know, we had the official opening of Quinn’s Corner and I had to be a welcoming kitty for all the visitors.  (It’s in my contract with Tabby’s Place that I have to help out around here.)  Then we had Thanksgiving with the Cats, and then Thanksgiving for the hoomans, and then it was time for all the December holidays.

I think my hardest chore in December was putting up the tree in the lobby and making sure it was properly decorated.  You saw that picture of me last month, so here is the finished tree–isn’t it beautiful? Then there was New Year’s Eve with all the hoopla for bringing in 2024.  So I am just happy to be back to sleeping 15 hours a day instead of only 9 or 10!

So, Prescott and I have a new toy…it is some kind of big round plastic thing. We like it!

Along with Rosie the Robot and that mat with all the holes (see last month’s pictures) and all the catnip toys we have, she and I are just having a wonderful time.  And after we play and nap, I have to supervise all the volunteers and help with the cleaning and distribution of blankies and beds.

But, my intestines are not feeling so great these days.  I have always had some problems with the bathroom going if I don’t eat the right foods.  But several times this past month I have gone between being constipated and having the Big D (diarrhea), which is not a pleasant situation for either me or the staff here who take care of me.  And I even had a bout of vomiting.

Right now I am feeling better and seem to be back on my “normal” track.  I hope it stays this way.

BUT, and this is a big BUT, I am still not being a good boy all the time.  While my lady Prescott and I have worked out our differences, I don’t seem to be able to control my wild side. Remember last month I was swatting my love, Prescott, and had to be put into time out? Well, guess what, I am still being put into time out on occasion for going after dear Olive.

Yet another new toy—someone called this a tunnel and I said ‘What’s a tunnel?”

As you know, Olive can’t use her back legs and has to wear diapers.  So she is an easy target for me when I get into one of my moods.  I swat her like I did with Prescott and Olive has a hard time getting away from me.  I sure do hope the staff here can figure out how to solve this mean streak I seem to have from time to time.  I am truly a lover and not a fighter, as you can see from the pix of me with the staff and volunteers.

Phew! Getting my full quotient of sleep now that the holidays are over!

Other than the fact that winter is here and we are expecting snow, we are all okay here at the sanctuary.  And if the staff can help me settle into keeping my wild side hidden, then all the cats in the lobby will be happy, too.  So, please plan to visit us here if you can.  We LOVE visitors because we get lots of pets and can always find a lap or two in which to curl up!

Me with my good friend, Heidi, who is the Sunday receptionist and all-around super volunteer and Board Treasurer. Heidi’s lap is awesome!

Be safe, warm, happy, and healthy in this new year. Thank you for loving me so consistently (even when I’m not the best boy) and ensuring I stay happy and healthy.

Love and kitty kisses to all,
Hips
