Hello Kitten Fund sponsors!
It’s still a very busy kitten season here at Tabby’s Place. We have kittens coming in as quickly as others are getting adopted. As always, our wonderful staff is working extra hard to keep all our youngest residents happy and healthy until they move on to their forever homes.

A few weeks ago Tabby’s Place had a surprise arrival: mama Ida came in from a feral colony pregnant with five kittens. Ida is an older cat to be having babies and visually impaired, so she needed all the love and care we could provide (and thankfully has been all too happy to receive it). Her babies were born prematurely and sadly two of them didn’t survive (little Krsysztof was stillborn and little Konstanty left us soon after). At birth, the kittens were no more than 2 oz. each and needed to be tube-fed as they weren’t yet able to nurse off of Ida.
But they have been in foster care with a staff member and I’m happy to report that they are doing great! All three surviving kittens (Artur, Marysia, and Agata) finally began nursing and just this week opened their eyes! They’re all gaining weight and mama Ida is doing wonderful. If you recall my story about how we lost a kitten a couple of months back (Agent Carter), you’ll understand how gratifying it is when the staff is able to protect these fragile babies and give them the best chance at a long and happy life.

Another litter has been facing medical challenges as well. India, Lager, Ale, Gone, and Kolsch came in together from a feral colony. India and Lager tested positive for FIV while the other three tested positive for FIV and FeLV. With kittens so young it’s possible that the results will change, so they’re being kept separate from our other kittens until they can be retested. They are still skeptical of humans due to being born feral, but we’re all working hard to socialize them. India and Lager are living in the Kitten Room at Tabby’s Place and are very playful and are slowly beginning to accept our interactions. Their siblings are in foster care and getting lots of love as well.
Adopted this month: Nakia, JD, Alexandra & Griffin (together), Stark, Trogdor, Xandarian, Jacob, Justin & Daphne (together), Elliott, mama Sunflower and her babies Lucy and Desi (all together!), Pom Pom, Monsoon, Marzipan, Thor & Shuri (together), Luca & Hollandaise (together), and Cholula.

Because India and Lager have to be separated, little Aioli (brother to Hollandaise and Cholula and inexplicably not adopted yet) has moved into a playpen in the Lobby. He’s fascinated by all the bigger cats as well as all the human activity and we’re hopeful that the increased attention he’ll get in the Lobby will get him into a forever home very soon.
Also last month, a sweet kitten with a bad foot injury came in. Bast has been living in the medical suite while she heals and is already on hold with a new family once she is fully recovered. She is the sweetest, most playful girl and her adopters already adore her.
There are also two new litters in foster homes that will be joining us at Tabby’s Place soon. I can’t wait to meet them!
As you can see, kitten season is nowhere near winding down yet. We’re still knee-deep in kittens – and who could complain about that?
Until next month, I and the kittens thank you, as always, for your support.
