Update for Lester

Dear friends,

My fighting days are over, folks. Or so it seems. I’ve maintained a scratch-free nose for at least a couple of months now. I know what you must be thinking and, no, it’s not because I’ve become better at guarding my nose! There have been no sightings of me going after my roommates. I think I’m just mellowing as I age. Or maybe I’m no longer feeling the need to prove I’m King of Suite FIV. Either way, it’s good news for everyone.

This month brought a number of adopters willing to consider FIV+ cats. I like to play hard-to-get, so I sat back in my chair and watched some of the other cats shamelessly seek attention and cozy up to our many visitors. Our formerly-shy Buddy raced down the ramp to greet people, vigorously bumping his head against their hands and doing his best to seal the deal.

Newman is pretty much a suck-up, too. After watching a visitor ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over Buddy, he reached down from the top of one of the cubbies and started patting her head as if to say, “Pssst, over here. Pet me! I’m much cuter and would make a fine house cat.”

I’m much too cool to resort to that kind of desperate behavior. Besides, I’m saving myself for the right person. My ‘soul human,’ if you will. Once my special soul human walks through the door, cartoon hearts will shoot from our eyes, and we will just know. He or she will scoop me up and take me home, and I will show them what it means to love with all of one’s heart. Until then, I’m just a cool cucumber, napping in my favorite chair with my favorite leopard-pattern blanket.

Thanks for being my friend and sponsor. It means a lot to me to have your continued support.

Your pal,
Lester
