Update for Colleen

Dear Colleen supporters,

So, the other day, I was in Jonathan’s office when he said to me, his eyes kind of misty and all, “Don’t you just love that cat?”

He was, of course, referring to Colleen, our beautiful Colleen, who has now become a permanent resident of his office. She has her own special bed near him, her food and water bowl strategically placed around the corner of his desk, and the unique privilege of listening to Jonathan’s own special brand of rock and roll music all day long.

But when he used the word “love,” and asked, didn’t I just LOVE Colleen, well, love doesn’t quite capture my feelings. The word that describes how I feel needs to be bigger and more all-encompassing.

Cats come and cats go at Tabby’s Place, and I have gotten close to quite a few, but the honest truth is the longer you spend with a cat, the more your feelings do grow… and Colleen and I have been together for quite a spell.

So, yeah, it’s a bit awkward sitting on the floor of the boss’ office when he’s trying to work, and I’m whispering in Colleen’s ear all the sweet nothings you want to say, and I’m picking her up into my lap and hugging her, and trying not to be too distracting. But for Colleen, I’m willing to risk being a little annoying.

Talk about special!

And she’s been looking better! The skin around her face is finally starting to clear up, which would be a miracle in itself if it weren’t for the fact that the staff has started scrubbing Colleen with an antibiotic shampoo.

Colleen had been having a terrible time with diarrhea. The staff was diligently keeping her all fresh and clean, but the poor kid. The move to Jonathan’s office was primarily because they thought a change in diet to a special prescription diet would help – and it did. Colleen is doing so much better that they hope to return her to her regular diet soon.

On a sadder note, Colleen is diabetic again, and, as of Valentine’s Day, she needed to go back on insulin.

But with St. Patrick’s Day coming up–Colleen’s favorite holiday–our fingers are crossed that our beautiful green eyed girl will feel well enough to go out for some wild Irish dancing and a nice fish dinner.

Just the other day, I was on the floor, and she was on my lap – purring, of course, her face all tucked underneath my arm – and during those special moments, I wish I could take her home with me. She is the sweetest girl. But I content myself with knowing she has the very best of care here. She is so well loved…and she lives in the boss’ office!

In the meantime, Colleen and I thank you, as always, for your continued generosity.
