Update for Colleen

Dear supporters of Colleen,

I’ve always been a big fan of David Letterman, especially his Top Ten Lists. And I’ve been thinking lately, when I’ve visited Colleen, what her top ten list would be.

If she could grab a sheet of paper and pen and jot one down, what is Colleen’s heart’s desire?

In no particular order, any top ten list for our dear girl would have to include:

SUNSHINE! Recently, someone at Tabby’s Place, and I have no idea who (I know there’s no interior decorator on staff), decided to put a small couch near a window in the Community Room. Through that window, for hours at a time, the sun shines, and Colleen just loves lying on that couch, soaking up the rays. So, thank you, to whoever had the wonderful idea!

FOOD. Yes, our poor girl is on a restricted diet, so Colleen would just love to go hog wild and eat anything. Well, wouldn’t we all? For now, the bowls of non-restricted foods have to be placed on top of the tables where Colleen can’t reach them.

WATER. The kid can’t seem to get enough water. If I’m with her for any length of time, sooner or later, she jumps down and scoots over to the water fountain … and there she sits for what seems like hours. You would think Colleen has just hiked across the desert. This is pretty normal for a cat with kidney disease or diabetes – and, as you know, Col has both.

BOX (to feel safe in). Yes, she loves her box, as long as it has a blanket inside.

CLEAR COMPLEXION. Colleen has been fighting this “ick” on her face for a long time. Recently, she’s looks great, but I always wonder if the “ick” will return.

CONSTANT ATTENTION. Colleen is so sweet, and she truly enjoys attention. When I pull her into my lap, she is the best cuddler. She purrs and settles in and I just love it!

and … drum roll, please!…

Yes, I know I can’t count down from 10, but number one for Colleen for her would be…

HER OWN TRUE LOVE! It seems that there is a rumor in the Community Room that Colleen has taken to climbing into Webster’s cage every morning when it’s opened up to spend some time with him. How cute is that?

One could deduce that Colleen has a crush on Webster… or does Colleen just like being in a cage? Today, when I was volunteering at Tabby’s Place, I walked into the Community Room and there was Colleen, sitting in Webster’s cage — alone. Was she waiting for him? Or did she just like being in the cage alone?

There was no medical news to report for Col this month. Yeah!!

Thanks, as always, for your generosity. Enjoy this glorious spring weather!
