My dear friends,
It’s storming again in Ringoes, and all of us lobby cats are tucked and snuggled into our favorite cozy spots – blankets, cushions, laps…the works. You all know that I don’t mind the weather much, since it does make for good cuddle time, but the human folks around here seem to be suffering from a bit of the blues. I can understand why. Winter weather is much more exciting when it’s treated like an apocalypse by the media. Winter this year, however, is just snowy and icy and dreary and seemingly endless. A drawn-out, slushy, soul-crushing pit of despair. Or at least that’s what I hear the people say.
You know you can always turn to your Boots for a lift, though, don’t you? Well, technically, you’d be the one lifting me – into your lap! But a few minutes in the sunshine of my love and you’ll feel toasty warm inside. You scratch my back, and I sit on your lap. It’s a win-win situation, and you’ll feel so much better afterwards.
I will confess, my friends, to some less than sunshiny moments myself this month, though. I had a bit of a stomach bug for a few days, and you know those are no fun. Lucky for me, I’m at Tabby’s Place, so the people here cooed over me and pampered me and magically made me feel better. (I’m blocking out the part where they gave me medicine to help the process along.) And do you remember those few ounces I dropped a few weeks ago, just to keep things interesting? Yup, you guessed it. I gained a few of them back. Never a dull moment.
I also briefly stepped into my old bad-boy ways one day. I’m not sure what came over me, but when dinner was served, I had this overwhelming urge to eat all the food in sight…or at least let the other cats know that I could if I wanted to. That mean little voice in my head led me straight to Tinkerbell, who had just been given a tasty tray of wet food. Let’s be honest: she did absolutely nothing to provoke me, but I was compelled to stare her down from mere inches away. I didn’t have to say a word; she wouldn’t even touch her food once I menaced her. It felt right at the time, but now I feel terribly guilty. A cat’s got to be careful in how he wields his considerable power.
I would never do that to you, though, my friends! In fact, even if you were to stop in at dinnertime, I would let you hold my food for me while I ate. So if you need a break from the yucky weather, or just a dose of unadulterated love, I am all yours!
Much love,
Boots
