Dear sponsors of our little Bootsie,
Greetings from sweltering New Jersey! But at least we have electrical power and our little darling felines (or fe-lions as my husband calls them) have air conditioning.
I was remembering a time a few years ago when I walked into the lobby at Tabby’s Place and saw a cute cat snoozing on a chair. One of the staff was walking by and I inquired about the kitty’s health. She gave me a funny look, raised an eyebrow, and said, “If it’s in the lobby, it has a problem.” Oh. I later learned that it’s generally an unspoken Bad Sign about a cat’s health when he gets moved to the Lobby; it’s the land of spoiling cats in fragile states, and making however much time they have left as sweet as possible. As you probably know, Boots has been in congestive heart failure for two years, suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, also known as HCM.
If you walked into the lobby today, however, you’d never know he has a problem. In fact, the tall cat tree in the Lobby was initially a source of fascination for all the cats, but at this point Boots has fairly successfully claimed it as his own. It’s rare to see any other cat but Boots in the center cubby of the tree. He’s claimed his territory and is resting quite comfortably, thank you very much!
I reported to you last month that there was concern about his blood pressure but Boots’ June blood pressure reading was so good that we can wait two months before rechecking it. So, Boots, like countless other Lobby cats, has looked his diagnosis in the eye and gone “Pfffffffft!”
Thank you, as always, for supporting our darling tuxedo boy!
