Update for Tux

Dear Friends of Tux,

February is full of “holidays” that matter little to a feline such as Tux. Whether or not a fluffy and chubby rodent sees his shadow or not has no impact on when Tux’s next meal will arrive. Tux does not take sides when it comes to politics and chooses not to celebrate presidents, past or present. He was pleased to learn that a fortunate feline is now living in the White House and hopes that brings more attention to rescue cats and dogs everywhere.

But there is one February holiday that does matter to Tux, because it represents love. Tux wants to thank you for being his special Valentine this month and every month of the year!

Tux has much love to give and is grateful everyday for the love you have for him and his well-being.

Tux had an unfortunate medical event unfold this month. He developed an anal gland abscess and was immediately started on antibiotics which, in turn, quickly upset his GI tract. The medical team stopped the antibiotics and adjusted his other medications accordingly. He’s feeling much better now, thanks to prompt attention and your love and support!

Tux and I have not enjoyed as much time together recently as I’ve been working either from home or from the Development Office with my two blind roommates, Finola and Bartholomew. But today the Development Office is in use, so I get to work in the Community Room.

When I arrived, Tux was sound asleep in the sunny window box. I was surprised that he didn’t come to greet me, but I understood that a deep catnap in the sun was not to be disturbed. As soon as Tux woke up and noticed that work was going on without him, he came running over to investigate and get love and pets.

Tux is presently sitting by my side, on his favorite table, with a fluffy lavender blanket, tucked against my laptop bag. He wanted me to share that he is purring extra loud just now to announce his love and contentment.

A few weeks ago, Tux got to assist with a special mailing project in the Community Room. If you recently received your year-end giving letter with a special photo of Tux, there is a good chance that Tux gave it his personal stamp of approval. Tux sat on stacks of paper, rested in boxes of supplies, and sniffed photos.

Thank you for being Tux’s special Valentine! He sends his love and purrs.
