Update for the Kitten Fund

Cotton enjoyed some snuggles with Sanctuary Associate Bree during the staff sleepover.

Hello Kitten Fund Sponsors,

I hope you all have been doing well despite all the winter storms! It took us a few days to fully dig out at Tabby’s Place due to all the heavy snow. No matter the weather, however, the staff and volunteers at Tabby’s are on the job to take care of all our cats and kittens. Two of our staff even slept over one night during the worst of the weather to ensure that our residents would be able to get their morning food and medications if the roads were bad in the morning! Cotton, in particular, enjoyed the sleepover and movie night!

Nick and Cicada adore their Uncle Tux

All of our kittens have been doing well and we have continued to have some great adoptions!

Cicada returned from foster to Tabby’s Place in January and joined Nick in the Community Room. These two shy kittens immediately became friends. Both of them adore having a friend with whom to play and hang out. This dynamic duo also fell in love with Uncle Tux, one of our long term residents and special needs seniors. Tux has been known to be a good influence and cuddle buddle for our shyer younger ones and this round was no different! Both Cicada and Nick were often found hanging out with Tux, enjoying his company. Nick and Tux miss Cicada now that she has gone to a forever home, but we are sure that Nick will be next to find the right family!

The Indian litter now one has one little dish left: Aloo! Samosa was the first to warm up to humans and quickly found her forever home in December. Her siblings took a bit longer to get comfortable with the indoor life, but Chutney was next to hurry off to his new family. Idly followed soon after, just leaving little Aloo. Aloo has always been a cautious one, but after a little one-on-one with her foster family, she is already opening up and is just waiting for the perfect family to scoop her up!

Our special needs crew from last month is doing great!

Legolas (our little tuxedo missing his back legs) quickly opened up in foster and showed off his affectionate side. He was happily adopted by a family who loves him as he is.

Blizzard and Sundae love each other and everyone they meet!

Moonlight, one of our newest incontinent cats, continues to thrive in foster! She is a spunky girl that doesn’t seem to understand that she’s any different from other cats! She was spayed and had her tail amputated last month and has healed very well. She now has no tail at all (not even a stump!) and is wearing diapers regularly. All of the redness, irritation, and sores from when she first arrived have healed and she is clean and healthy! Moonlight is still a tiny girl and will likely be a “perma-kitten,” but she has enough personality to make up for her small stature!

Blizzard and Sundae, our brothers with pectus excavatum, are showing off how silly and sweet they are in foster care. The two are very loving and love to be held and pet. These two will melt all over you if you show them some attention. Truly, these two are very special young men! They continue to be healthy and do not show any signs of being affected by their birth defect.

The Mushroom Family!

Most of our new intakes for this month have been adults, but we did take in a new litter, the Mushrooms. Cremini (tortie female), Portabello (tabby and white male), Chanterelle (tabby and white female), Porcini (tuxedo male), and Maitake (grey tabby) were trapped over the course of a few days during a local TNR project. Their mom was also happily caught and she will be spayed and returned to her outdoor home since she will not be happy indoors. These little kitties, however, are at the perfect age to be socialized! They will quickly become acclimated to indoor life and will hopefully be ready for adoption in a few weeks!

Thank you for continuing to support the littlest residents of Tabby’s Place!
