Update for The Kitten Fund

Dear Kitten Fund Sponsors,

Elliot and Ramekin, BFFs.

The summer heat certainly doesn’t slow down the kittens of Tabby’s Place. I’m happy to report that while our first group of kitten residents to occupy our Special Needs suite this year has found their forever homes, the room is still bubbling with energy and cuteness.

Elliot continues to be baffled by the little kittens in his suite, but he seems to have found a new BFF in Ramekin. After recovering from his upper respiratory infection, Ramekin returned to the kitten room. He and Elliot both struggle with constipation issues, so are taking similar medications to keep them comfortable. Elliot loves to curl up with Ramiken tucked near him like a teddy bear.

This duo was recently joined by another set of special kittens:  Pingu and Raya, who became friends while in foster care with the family of our junior vet tech.

Pingu drinks from the dog bowl.

Pingu arrived with a severe upper respiratory and eye infection. Her little eyes were so inflamed and crusty that she couldn’t really see. She went into foster care where she found new human and canine friends and quickly decided that she was really a miniature dog.

Raya was rescued in the parking lot of Home Depot. She had severe injuries to both front feet (likely the result of climbing into a car engine). She was treated at Tabby’s Place, sent to the emergency vet where her one front foot was amputated, and then moved into foster care with a staff member to recover. Raya quickly demonstrated that the loss of a foot was not going to slow her down. She’s recovered so well that no further surgery will be needed.

Pingu needed a feline playmate, and Raya was ready to oblige. When both were ready for adoption, they joined the kitten suite.

Several of our smaller bottle babies are gearing up to graduate from their foster homes and join the kittens in our kitten room. These include sisters, Gloria and Elaine, and little boy, Boun. This trio has been given playdates when their foster moms come to work for the day. Boun has been a single kitten and is showing some of those traits as he’s very bitey. It’s good for him to learn to play with others and we’ll be working with him to modify that undesirable behavior.

Mother, Onyx remains in foster care with her babies, Emerald and Feldspar. She’s been a very good mom and is beginning to wean her little ones.

And finally, we have a large number of kittens in Ringworm Quarantine. Breyer and Taleni graduated from Ringworm and Breyer got to go to his forever home while Taleni joined the kitten suite crew. The remaining kittens from the ice cream litter are still in ringworm getting treated.

Thanks to your continued support of these little ones and all the cats of Tabby’s Place, each of these babies has a bright and sunny future ahead of them. Thank you for your devotion to the littlest of our residents!

Lisa

One of these black kitties is not actually a kitten. Can you pick her out?

Funny story relating to this kitten room photograph… Mishush is a newer resident of Suite A and she likes to sneak out the door into the hallway. Someone spotted her and assumed she was one of the black kittens and put her back in the kitten room. From the front going clockwise in the top right photo are Ramekin, Rutabaga, Mishush, Radish. Mishush was quite happy to be hanging with the kittens.
