Update for Princess Bubblegum

Update for Princess Bubblegum

Greetings PBG sponsors!

We’re a little sad that summer is over but also excited for the changes that the fall brings.

We turned our air conditioner off for a few days with the advent of some cooler weather. Princess Bubblegum enjoyed the fresh air (as did the humans). Then the heat and humidity came back, so the air conditioner came back on too. Oh, well — we’ll be enjoying the fall weather soon.

Last week we were having some work done to our home. This meant that all of the cats had to go to Tabby’s Place for the day, Princess Bubblegum included. PBG hung out in the volunteer bathroom with her roommate Mariska. Mariska was scared and hid most of the day. Princess Bubblegum was angry but affectionate. One volunteer told me that PBG would rub against her and hiss at the same time. The princess would allow petting and even seemed to enjoy it, but then a moment later she would hiss again.

I like to think that this is what Princess Bubblegum was saying: “Oh, the indignity. I’ve been relocated to my home from long ago. I am without the comforts of my new home. Pet me. Pet me. Love me. Fear me.” Quite typical for a cat that is also a princess!

At home, Princess Bubblegum has been friendlier. She has been letting almost all humans that come to visit pet her. She has even been approaching guests in order for them to give her the attention she deserves.

Princess Bubblegum is still being picky with her prescription kidney food. I have been trying to mix some of her prescription food with regular cat food, but that has not been cutting it. I have been giving her regular wet food, which she readily eats. Thankfully, she still eats the prescription kidney dry food.

Other than this minor pickiness, life in the world of Princess Bubblegum is going well. She (mostly) eats her food with the medicine that keeps her life going. She has many beds and comfortable places to sleep. She has humans that give her attention and playtime and love. She truly enjoys the finer things in life, all thanks to your loving care and support. Thank you for sponsoring this girl and letting her enjoy her life.

We simply couldn’t give Princess Bubblegum the world without your help. So, again, thank you.
