Update for Princess Bubblegum

Greetings Princess Bubblegum Sponsors!

How about that weather? One day it’s 80 degrees, and the next it actually feels like fall. I prefer the fall. It’s about time! We need windows open here!

Princess Bubblegum is a 3-year old cat with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). EPI is such a rollercoaster, so it’s not a surprise that last year we had many ups and downs. I am happy to say we’ve been up for quite a while now. Princess Bubblegum looks great!

My EPI dog Aries is having a down moment with his EPI and I am researching what Princess Bubblegum went through last year. She used to eat her food with the enzymes and then she stopped. The enzymes have a bitter taste so we switched to the Creon capsules, which are more expensive, but have an enteric coating that masks the bitterness. Princess Bubblegum has done amazingly well on this supplement since we started it last December.

Aries used to eat his food with the enzyme supplements, but now he won’t. Based on our experience with Princess Bubblegum, I am trying to see if the Creon can help Aries as well. He has a few other problems too, so we are consulting the internal medicine doctor at the specialty hospital as well as our own wonderful veterinary team at Tabby’s Place.

The PBG picture on the left is from February 2018. The picture on the right is this month, October 2018. She is eating well, gaining weight and doing great. She may be a teensy bit on the overweight side, but certainly not enough to make us change anything! I am so happy that she is doing well — and as long as she does, we won’t change a thing.

At Tabby’s Place, we give every cat a chance. This means we try many different avenues to figure out how to best help each cat. We learn what works, and this knowledge helps us to help other animals in need as well.

Every difficult moment with these wonderful animals is a learning opportunity. As I reflect on the past, I am grateful for those tough moments. At Tabby’s Place, we surely have our fair share of them. We don’t always get the results we want, but we learn as we give the best love and care to the cats. I am grateful that we found something that worked for Princess Bubblegum, and that we can keep caring for this sassy girl.

Thank you for supporting Princess Bubblegum. On behalf of all the cats at Tabby’s Place — present, past, and future — thank you. Your support enables us to learn and grow and ultimately, to care for more cats in hopeless situations. Your generosity goes so far, it is immeasurable. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
