Dearest Pepita Valentines,

We celebrate this month for two reasons: Valentine’s Day and the fact that Pepita’s suite has been cleared of ringworm!

This means, of course, that she can have a slew of visitors, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Our Development Director, Angela, reported that “Pepita and I had the most enchanting lovefest the other day.  She chattered away exuberantly. You know she’s one of my ‘favorite favorites,’ and I never leave her presence without feeling like the world is a kind and hopeful place. Today she serenaded me with the most comical little grunts of mirth, making manic mini-muffins the whole time.”

Pepita seems to have taken up residence on the heated mat in the solarium. When folks go to visit or when she gets her meds or is expressed, this is where she has been. It is a very cozy spot even when the weather is cold and blustery outside, although we have had pretty mild temperatures lately.

Poblano, a newer fur ball in Pepita’s suite, is the only other kitty that seems to be going out in the solarium these days and she has learned (perhaps from Pepita) that it is wonderful to hide in the tube when it is time for her to get medications. Poor girl really doesn’t like to be “caught” for meds.

Since Boom and Steven have moved over to Quinn’s Corner, two more new suitemates have joined in Suite A: Woolie and Tinsel. Both are long-haired black-and-white boys. Woolie is very affectionate, but Tinsel is still very nervous around people and does not really enjoy being touched.

Pepita has been in good health this month but she is showing some hair loss on her back once again.  I don’t think it required a medication adjustment, but the staff is monitoring it.

We hope that your February has been a month filled with love so far. Pepita sends her sweetest candy-coated whisker kisses to you this month.  She wants you to know how thankful she is for your devotion to her so that she can remain a very happy and zesty girl.
