Update for Mona

Dear sponsors,

Warm greetings to you on this chilly November morning.

Here’s a question: Have you ever thought about cats’ teeth? Just like people, many cats develop dental disease from time to time. Having a suppressed immune system makes FIV+ cats especially vulnerable to tooth troubles.

I am an exceptional girl; but, with regard to dental matters, I am no exception. This month I had two canines (the large “fang”-like teeth in the front) extracted. (By the way, why do they call them “canines” even though they are in my very feline mouth?) I was a bit nervous about the procedure, but I have complete faith in my friends at Tabby’s Place. Now that they know that I have periodontal disease, Tabby’s Place will give me a yearly dental checkup and look for any signs of discomfort. They say that I am healing beautifully from my dental procedure, and my weight remains stable.

It has been calmer in our FIV+ Suite this month. I am glad for the quiet, as I love when things are peaceful. When I am outside in the solarium, I watch the leaves change color. I begin to prepare for winter, letting my hair grow longer to keep me warm. With my thick fur, I can comfortably continue to be outside when I want a breath of fresh air.

Sometimes, when I want to be alone with my thoughts, I sit in the plastic tube that connects the solarium to the FIV+ Suite. At left is a picture of me, away from it all, contemplating life.

Have a wonderful season of thanks. As I partake of my holiday feast, I will give thanks for having a sponsor like you!

Xoxoxoxox,

Mona
