Our playful girl is enjoying great health and high spirits this holiday season. Mac has proven herself one of the star pupils in our feline enrichment program. Her svelte figure and high energy enables her to positively relish time with the wand toy, and even gleefully investigate those poor, neglected toys that look cool to humans but are ignored by most cats.

Mac and her roommates were able to enjoy an early snowfall this week as winter reminded us it is just around the corner. Snug and cozy in their beds or on the tower or the window perch, the girls were not fazed by the snow as they knew they would be warm and loved no matter what was happening outside!

Last month I mentioned that we would be holding our first-ever “Thanksgiving with the Cats” event on November 18. The event was a huge success, with a constant stream of visitors, many new to Tabby’s Place! Though Mac’s room didn’t see the bits of turkey that allowed visitors to engage with the kitties not on restricted diets, her girl crew did get attention during the self-guided tours and felt the buzz in the air that day. Of course, from the giant window in their room the girls were auditing with glee the numerous cars pulling into the lot that day. And almost as important as the attention given to the kitties during the event was the incredible generosity of the visitors in the donations of food, litter, treats and supplies bestowed upon Tabby’s Place.

It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.” This quote from Agnes Pharo struck me as we celebrate the various holidays (not just Christmas) this time of year. At Tabby’s Place we always have tenderness for a cat’s past (some have quite horrific stories), support and courage for the present as they live with us, and hope for the future that they are happy in our loving environment or find a wonderful family and forever home. And, of course, we are always looking for the paths that lead to peace, especially with the many kitty personalities we have to manage at Tabby’s Place.
