Update for Corey

I am very pleased to report that Corey continues to defy our expectations (but not our hopes) and he is thriving.
His appetite remains very good and he is holding on to the weight he put on over the past few months.
And his breathing, while still elevated somewhat, has remained steady and is causing him no distress.

During the past month, we have seen Corey resume a behavior that he hasn’t done since he first detected the mass in his chest: he often jumps up onto one of the soft chairs in the room to sleep.
We think this is a good sign, as he must be feeling pretty strong enough to put forth this much effort.

The only slight concern we have had with Corey’s health is that some blood showed up in his stool a few weeks ago.
Our vet believed that this was likely due to the prednisone he is taking (the prednisone is controlling the mass in his chest, but this drug can cause stomach ulceration).

So, we have started Corey on a medication that forms a protective coat on the GI tract.
So far so good: there is no longer blood in his stool.
We will continue to keep a close eye on dear Corey.
And, of course, we will keep you up to date on his status.
