Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

It has been quite a month of ups and downs for our Carrot. Two of his good solarium friends moved on. First Chelsea
was adopted, which is wonderful news, but I’m sure Carrot will miss her. Chelsea is a very shy girl, and although her progress in our socialization program has been huge, she still didn’t always show well to adopters. Whenever a stranger came through her area Chelsea was frequently gone, hiding somewhere. But it turns out she didn’t need to show well to a stranger, because it was one of our wonderful volunteers that fell in love with her, and when he was moving away from the area he decided he couldn’t leave without Chelsea. We all wish Chelsea and her new family a lifetime of love and happiness, and I know if Carrot could understand he would wish her well too.

Another friend of Carrot’s, Steven, relocated from Suite B over to Suite A. Steven has been battling diarrhea issues for some time, and when medication didn’t help we had to move him so he can be on the special diet in Suite A. Steven has already settled in nicely to his new area, and we have already seen some improvement with his GI issues. Carrot hung out with Steven quite a lot, so I’m sure he misses him.

The good news is Carrot still has lots and lots of other friends, and new ones will come and go, but Carrot will always be able to make friends. He’s like the cool kid in school who everyone wants to hang out with, because wherever Carrot is there’s always a party.

In more happy news, Carrot and friends received a wonderful gift this month. A huge climbing structure! Each of the solaria got one, and all the cats love them! Carrot and friends are having so much fun climbing on it, sleeping up on shelves, and jumping from one level to the next. Cats always like to be able to climb high on things; it gives them exercise, and makes them feel safe to be off the ground. Every time I visit Solarium B Carrot is perched on one of the levels, either looking outside, watching birds, or just taking a nap. It’s a huge hit with all the cats. I took some pictures of Carrot on his new climbing structure so you can see how much he loves it.

Nothing new in medical news for Carrot, which is always a good thing. Our boy is healthy and happy. He has even become much more tolerant of having his bladder expressed. I remember when he first came to us; we dreaded having to do his bladder. He would thrash and roll around like an alligator doing a death roll! He wasn’t trying to hurt us, but sometimes he did because claws would be flailing around all over the place. Since he has gotten used to us expressing his bladder he is a very good boy. He stands patiently (most of the time) in the litterbox now, and lets us do what we have to do.

That’s all the Carrot news for now. Thank you all for your continued generous support of Carrot. Because of you Carrot is a healthy and happy boy, he has many friends (human and feline), and he knows what love is.
