Update for Boobalah

Hello, Friends of Boobalah!

My name is Kim, and I was pleased to be asked to write for Boobalah this month.  I am a long-time volunteer and cat correspondent at Tabby’s Place and was available to write this month for Boobalah due to the adoption (!!!!) of the cat for which I have written monthly for a very long time. His name is Shifty, and I am thrilled to hear he is doing well in his adoptive home.

A good reason to be available, right?

Boobalah’s special place

I am also honored to be in charge of The Stroller Program at Tabby’s Place, which affords some of our cats the opportunity to experience the great out-of-doors in a secure pet stroller. One-on-one time is given by the human “stroller driver” to the feline passenger.  Most cats really like it. We play soft music, and they can watch the birds and the butterflies while we sit under the trees in the sanctuary gardens out back. What better way to get to know Boobalah, I thought?

However, Boobalah was not really interested in joining our stroller team on the first try.  She seemed to prefer hanging out in her cat tree.  I coaxed and encouraged her with kind words; I asked other volunteers who know her better to encourage her as well. But sometimes, cats are resistant to the idea of getting into a stroller and being locked in. I tried to show her that she would be able to see through the netting at all angles by sitting face forward. That the diaper was NOT an issue (we have had a few strolling cats that sport diapers!).

Enjoying love and lap time! Boobalah has many admirers.

But Boobalah was having none of it. I settled for visits near the cat tree, where she was most comfortable.  She may be keeping the cat tree as her “safe place” for the present time. There are a few new faces in the lobby she calls home, as well as some strong personalities. Though Boobalah does not choose to get involved in the conflict, it is hard to be a bystander if a diaper prohibits you from moving quickly! Things will settle down soon, but in the meantime, our wonderful staff and volunteers will keep their watchful eyes on our fine girl.

I understand that Boobalah is able to rest at night now without her diaper.  While this may mean a bit more cleanup of her bed the next morning, it is important to let her be free of the diaper when possible, to prevent skin irritation. She enjoys this freedom.

I thank you for your most gracious donations, which allow Boobalah to be the best feline she can be!  When she rests her pretty head at night, she knows she is loved. She is blessed, indeed, to receive the extraordinary care at Tabby’s Place that keeps her healthy and happy.

Thank you very much for being a part of that healthy and happy life.
