Update for Boobalah

Greetings, Boobalah’s Friends!

Happy May to you and yours! I’m not sure how we got here so fast. The weather in New Jersey is certainly not feeling like spring is in the air quite yet. It has been a rather damp spring so far which has made it impossible for poor Boobalah to chase the sun around the room. Fear not, Boobalah, summer and sunshine are coming!

Boobalah is not letting this less-than-stellar weather get her down. There has been much activity at Tabby’s Place and Boobalah thrives when she is keeping tabs on everything. It’s exhausting work but someone has to do it. Luckily, she is excellent at taking power naps so she is ready for the next round.

One recent activity was an ice cream social for our dedicated volunteers. The third week in April was National Volunteer Week, and the Tabby’s Place staff hosted an ice cream social for all of us to show their appreciation. There were no ice cream toppings spared. This was a first-class ice cream extravaganza—hot fudge included! It was a chance for family and friends to see Quinn’s Corner after hearing so much about it and to spend time with all the kitties. It also allowed volunteers a chance to get to know each other a little better. We appreciate the Tabby’s Place staff for all they do for us!

In medical news, Boobalah was noted to have very dark-colored stool with some blood in it. The medical team ran a blood test to make sure there was no internal blood loss. The results showed everything was fine internally. Her leg became very swollen after the blood draw, so a clotting profile was sent out for analysis. Everything was normal. A urinalysis indicated that our sweet Boobalah had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and she was put on antibiotics once again. Her frequent UTIs might be caused by the diapers not drawing enough urine away from her. We are doing a trial with leaving her undiapered overnight to see if that helps. Our morning crew has been alerted to look out for any potential puddles. We are putting pee pads in her favorite napping spots to help keep things dry and sanitary.

Dear sponsors, Boobalah thanks you for all of your kindness, generosity, and continued support. She is getting the best medical care possible, thanks to you. We wish you all the best in the coming month, and always!

Until next month…
