Spooky

Spooky

Right up front, we have to make it clear that Spooky is not at all “spooky” (except for being all black).Instead, he is a very sweet old guy.

Spooky came from a home where he lived with many other cats and was owned by a woman who had growing medical problems and was unable to care for her cats properly. The woman told us Spooky was six years old …. but as soon as we saw him, we saw he was elderly. We figured that she had lopped off 10 years and our vets estimate his age at 16 years.Spooky was thin and frail-looking when he arrived and we were worried about him. After he had cleared the disease control quarantine, we decided to put him into one of the suites, although we were concerned about how he would fare with a room full of younger cats.

We have been delighted with how well Spooky has adjusted to the other cats.He does mostly keep to himself, but he appears happy and he is not being harassed.Spooky1.jpgHe has lost some weight since arriving.Blood work and several physical exmainations have not turned up any disease or problem. His weight has recently plateaued, so we are taking a conservative approach and keeping a close eye on him, weighing him often and having our vets examine him regularly.

In addition, Spooky gets fed a large plate of wet food twice per day.We often do this with older or timid cats, in case they are having a difficult time gaining accers to the community food during the day.Spooky2.jpgSpooky is a wonderful old guy and we are hopeful that he will be adopted. But, we know that his chances are diminished greatly by his age. Please sponsor dear old Spooky and help us to care for him.
