Nuttin

Nuttin

Nuttin was one of the first FIV+ cats to be placed on our waiting list and he spent almost a year in a cage waiting to be accepted into Tabby’s Place.Nuttin was obviously no worse for the wear, however, because he came with a great personality.

As you can see, Nuttin is built like a small tank: he is stocky, barrel chested and has stout legs and a large head.He loves human attention and tends to vie with Jack to be the first cat to jump into an available lap.

Nuttin is also a bit of a bruiser and among him, Jack and Bailey, there is often quite a bit of scuffling going on in the FIV Suite.Cats that are FIV+ have been infected with the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).This virus disables or destroys the white blood cells, and leaves the cat susceptible to infections. Once a cat is infected with FIV, the cat is infected for life and can transmit the virus if he or she bites another cat.

Nuttin is also diabetic, though he has been in remission since entering Tabby’s Place and does not need insulin at the current time. (It is not uncommon for diabetic cats to bounce in and out of remission.)We monitor his blood glucose level regularly and will start him on insulin when necessary. Nuttin1.jpgOur FIV+ cats have their own suite and we are extra-careful about disease control procedures in their suite. In addition, they are fed a higher-quality (and more expensive) diet than our other cats, in hopes of boosting their immune systems.Nuttin2.jpgNuttin is very affectionate and loves nothing more than a nice, warm lap.So, we are hopeful he may be adopted some day.Meanwhile, please consider sponsoring him and helping us to care for him.
