Chipper

Chipper

We accepted Chipper and Sandy together from a woman whose death from cancer was imminent. She had found homes for her other cats, but Chipper & Sandy had little hope of finding a safe haven. They are both 13 years old, Sandy is diabetic and Chipper has only 3 legs (in our hurry to accept these cats we neglected to ask how he lost his left front leg).In addition, they are so tightly bonded to each other that it would be a crime to separate them. So, because of Sandy’s diabetes, Chipper also lives in the Secial Needs Suite. The diet we feed in this suite is not ideal for him, but the need for him to be with Sandy outweighed this small concern. As you can tell from the photos, Chipper is overweight, though he gets around quite well with his 3 legs.As many of you probably know, it is very difficult to get a cat to lose weight. And, we are unlikely to be able to get him to lose any weight here, as we free feed our cats (this is especially important in the Special Needs Suite, since it houses diabetic cats).

Chipper is quite possibly the nicest cat we have ever known. There’s just something about his personality that makes everyone fall in love with him instantly. And, he is just adorable looking, having the most expressive face imaginable.Chipper has now become the greeter in the Special Needs Suite and as soon as anyone enters the room, he walks over to introduce himself and say hi.Chipper1.jpgThere is no ongoing medical care needed for Chipper at this point in time. But, his disability and the fact that he needs to be adopted with Sandy signifcantly lowers his chances of being adopted.

Meanwhile, because he lives with Sandy he will eat the prescription diet, which is expensive. If you have a soft spot in your heart for dear Chipper, please sponsor him and help us care for him.Chipper2.jpg
