Built more like a Thanksgiving turkey than a bite-sized snack, Chicken Nugget is the elder statesman of our FIV+ Suite. Whether he’s baking in the sunbeams of his solarium or taking orders for cuddles, he is everyone’s favorite menu item (feline and human alike).

But Chicken Nugget’s past was no happy meal. Behind those lemon-lime eyes is a story of hunger … and hope.

Our brave boy once ate like a bird, scrabbling for survival on the grounds of a prison. He was one golden brown tabby in a chaotic feral colony, and the cats clung to each other for comfort.

Survival was a full-time job, but compassion was served daily. The prison’s inmates loved the cats and gave their own meals to feed them. Life was difficult, but not impossible … until the prison closed down. Infected with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and painfully shy, Chicken Nugget had nowhere to go.

But when your order is up and all hope seems lost, Tabby’s Place is at your service. Chicken Nugget (along with Taylor Ham, Cornbread, and numerous others) came under love’s arches.

Life has been a smorgasbord of sweetness ever since. Bashful at first, Chicken Nugget developed a hearty appetite for affection. But as much as he loves people, he has never forgotten the power of feline camaraderie.

Walk into our FIV Suite, and you will find him at the centerpiece. No one can resist Chicken Nugget. Sweet or sour, saucy or shy, cats are drawn to this true friend.

So how has our gentle giant not yet found his forever home? Chicken Nugget is waiting on a custom-order adopter.

Although he can live a long, healthy life with FIV, it leaves him more susceptible to infection. In addition, Chicken Nugget has diabetes. He is in remission as of this writing, but he depends upon vigilant care and a prescription diet. He may require insulin again at any time.
