Update for Bacon

“You think this will stop me? Meow.”

Dear Bacon Supporters,

Happy September!  I hope this end of summer is treating you well.

I try to visit Bacon once a week. Sometimes he’s awake, and sometimes he’s fast asleep. Like all cats, he sleeps a lot. But I always wonder what he does when I’m NOT there.

Luckily, Colin, one of our awesome staff members, shares his office with Bacon. Colin works where Bacon lives. He’s there, on his computer, eating his lunch (or trying to) with Bacon, who notices everything and wants to get involved.

Recently, Colin had to go to great lengths to eat his pizza in peace. He built up a literal blockade of books on his desk to keep Bacon from sniffing and eventually eating his pizza. Colin was proud of the blockade and assumed it would work.

It did not.

As Colin notes, “Bacon’s persistence is unmatched.” Later, Colin wrote, “The wall has failed. Citizens are being advised to relocate.” We’re talking about Colin.

Eventually Colin had to leave his office and eat in the hallway to ensure the pizza went into his mouth and not somebody else’s. You can see in the video at the end of this update just how Bacon thinks about food.

So I may catch Bacon sleeping at times, but he definitely does not sleep all the time.

He explores:  Bacon seems to be here, there, and everywhere, wanting to know everything! No secrets here.

Cat explorer extraordinaire!

And rest assured, he’s living his best life!!

In further news, some changes were made in his office to accommodate two desks for the foster team. Luckily, no changes were made to Bacon’s padded headboard or bed. His litter box and crate are now set up on the same side of the room.

Medically speaking, Bacon has had several sleep seizures this month, but thankfully recovered well from them.

Thanks, as always, for your continued generosity. You are helping to keep Bacon (quite a character) and other cats safe, secure, and happy.

Your correspondent,
Kate

PS: The Linda Fund Matching Challenge is underway, to raise funds for cats facing medical crises. Dahlia is our “spokescat” this year. The goal is to raise $500,000 by the end of September! Please spread the word to your friends and family, as donations are all matched and doubled during this time. Thank you for all you do for our cats!
