Visit Tabby’s Place any day of the week and you will see the most darling sight: an adorable gray tabby being lovingly cradled in the arms of a volunteer. If you’ve got the time, that is where Deku wishes to be. Whoever you are, you are his happy place.

Deku is nothing short of precious. Ask anyone who has had the pleasure of spending time with this beautiful baby about him and one word that you will hear repeatedly is “sweet.” He is an affectionate, docile young cat who just wants to be close to people. Scoop him up into your arms and he will stay there, snug and purring contentedly, gazing up at you adoringly and slow blinking those gorgeous green eyes. He would happily stay that way forever if it were up to him, because he loves you and there is nowhere he would rather be. But as much as we all wish time could stop and we could just spend our days cuddling cats, reality always sets in and eventually you have to put him down and use your arms for less joyful pursuits. Deku won’t fret. As calm and relaxed as he may be in your arms, this precious boy is also young and energetic and enjoys zooming around the room playing with toys or with his kitty friends. He is fun to watch and very entertaining when he is feeling playful. He is a busy little guy with things to do, but he will be ready to be scooped up again later when it’s time.

While Deku is a happy, healthy young cat, he does have a neurological issue that causes him to have trouble navigating and to sometimes get “stuck” in the same motion for a period of time. This condition does not require any treatment or special medication; it only adds to his quirkiness. He also does not consistently use the litterbox and tends to go wherever he happens to be at the time. This is a challenge that is likely related to his neurological issue but perhaps can be remedied with time and patience.
