Happy March, Team TNR!
And I do mean “happy.”
This relentless winter may have left us feeling ragged, but March is as plump with promise as a mama cat. Isn’t it grand to be here together, on the front porch of springtime? Don’t you just want to dance among the daffodils?
And speaking of mama cats, a certain tortoiseshell lady is dancing into the best springtime of her life thanks to you.
Mama Kitty earned her name just as you might imagine.
Up until 2013, this candy-colored girl raised many kittens. But thanks to you, Mama’s mothering days came to an end as she became a Tabby’s Place TNR cat. For over a dozen years, she flourished in her colony, with a devoted caregiver.
When you are a Tabby’s Place feral, you are as loved as any of our indoor residents. If outdoor life turns unlucky, you don’t need to look for a four-leaf clover. Love’s rainbow leads back to Tabby’s Place. Even when things look bleak, someone is looking out for you.
So when Mama Kitty developed a dangerous eye condition, she did not have to search for help. Her caregiver whisked her to Tabby’s Place, where our vet team sprang into action. Mama would need to have her ruptured eye removed.
It was a small loss, compared with what she gained. Now grandmotherly and gentle, Mama Kitty caught a vision of love. Indoor life, with its affection and cookies, was more beautiful than any field of flowers.
Mama could not turn away from all this tenderness. (She also could not resist any crunchy poultry product of any variety. Goodness, the girl loves her cookies!)
And just before the calendar turned to spring, bliss blossomed.

At age 13+, with one eye and a full heart, former feral Mama Kitty found her forever home. She will celebrate spring 2026 with a family all her own. Her entire life has led to this love.
And your generosity has been her springtime all along.
Your love blooms in every face at Tabby’s Place, and one of the sweetest is newcomer Jordan. Scooped up in a local TNR project, this bashful marshmallow proved to be mushy … and hurting. He came to us healing from a large leg wound, as well as the ache of being a sweet soul with no one to snuggle.

Today, he’s making a full recovery from both ailments. We are getting in as many kisses as we can, since it’s clear Jordan will be adopted just as fast as the bluebird of happiness can fly.
But before we leap into spring with all four feet, let’s give winter one last dance. Together, we’ve weathered a historic blizzard and blustery cold that felt like it would never let go.
It’s not the weather we might choose … but it’s precisely the weather when your love means life itself.

Thanks to you, the cats in our colonies never lack for warmth, sustenance, or the sheltering love of caregivers who cherish them.
You are there in the hands and feet of our hardy volunteers, high-stepping through over a foot of snow to deliver fresh food, water, and the love that transcends language.
You are here at Tabby’s Place, with the staff who sleep over during inclement weather, ensuring no cat misses their insulin or breakfast.

And I hope you hear your own heartbeat in the words of one of our most devoted colony caregivers, Lauren, who shares the following:
“It has certainly been a challenging winter for community cats and their caretakers. I’m grateful we have an amazing very dedicated team of volunteers. We work together helping colonies with shoveling, hauling shelters and feeding.
“Feral cats can easily get dehydrated in freezing temperatures. Trapping a cat that needs medical attention in this weather brings additional challenges.
“Two recent emergency trappings this winter were Big Mama, unable to walk with an infected wound, and senior Mr. Gray, limping in pain with a hip condition. Thanks to the amazing vet team at Tabby’s Place for the best veterinary care.”

Happy, happy spring, dear sponsors. Enjoy every moment. But remember that, because of you, even the coldest days are a season of miracles for our cats. It is the greatest joy to serve them with you.
With love and gratitude, your correspondent,
Angela
