Update for Bacon

Dear Supporters of Bacon,

I am one of those people—and so is Bacon (I discovered) who love to start fresh and clean and get a jump start on the new year. It’s the expectation, I think. And the hope that the new year will be so much better than the old year. That it is ripe with possibilities.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve seen Bacon last, and I’m so eager to see that handsome face. With all the holidays swirling around us, which means loads of things to do (and the fact that I went on vacation in Morocco for two weeks), I wasn’t able to see him on a regular basis.

I’m so sorry about that. So now, when I arrive, I can’t wait to sit down on the floor and wait for him to come over. When I arrive, Bacon is drinking from the water fountain in the corner of the room. At first, he’s so intent that  I assume he doesn’t hear me. But I’m wrong. As soon as I sit, he prances on over for a sniff.

Someone is here to visit with me!

“Bacon . . .”

He barely lets me get out a hello before he’s climbing over me and sniffing the bottom of my sneaks. “Oh, it’s you.”

I face the same pushback at home from my three kitties. You were gone. I’m never going to forgive you.

“Where have you been?” he finally asks.

I feel bad. “On vacation. But I’m glad to be home,” I tell him. But then I stop. “How are you doing?”

Bacon does the usual shrug. But he looks good. Something is different.

More handsome than ever!

It seems that Bacon has started a new medication for his sleep seizures–the same meds that were given to two other cats at Tabby’s Place with great results. I’m happy to hear this.

The trick is to get the meds into his food without him realizing it. (You know how sensitive all cats are to smells and tastes.) So the good folks at Tabby’s have slowly introduced the med by creating two separate medicated food trays. So far, so good. Bacon is slurping up the meds.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support of Tabby’s Place. So many cats—Bacon included—live the good life because they are in a place that takes such good care of them. A place that gives them lots of love.

Bacon and I hope you have a wonderful month ahead. Keep warm and think about spring.

Your correspondent,
Kate

PS: The cats received a special December gift that they’re excited to share with you: NBC featured Tabby’s Place on Philly Live! Click here to see some of your favorite felines enjoying their moment of fame. Thank you for helping to make this possible!
