Update for the Kitten Fund

Update for the Kitten Fund

Blam and Blitz, although here they are more like Whisper and Hush.

July greetings to you, and to all our kind and caring Kitten Fund sponsors!

To begin with, here’s a quote noted while scrolling this past month:

“The greatest pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him, and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself, too.”
                         — Samuel Butler (1835-1902), English novelist, satirist, and critic

OK, but try that with a cat, and she will give you such a look!

However, many times I’ve read stories about unhappy humans whose cats seemed to understand, and who comforted them.

That’s where Tabby’s Place comes in, taking a cat out of a hopeless situation and helping them become a cat who will jump on the couch next to you, giving you gentle bunts when you feel like you’re in a hopeless situation.

Tiana, Sanctuary Associate & Foster Team Lead (who, by the way, just celebrated her 3rd anniversary on the staff at Tabby’s Place) reports on the kittens who are in the early stages of this process: “21 of our fosters for this past month were kittens, 4 of them being bottle babies, and the remaining being older 6-8 week old kittens with a little spice! These kitties needed some further socialization and have improved quite a bit! Many kittens are already on hold to be adopted when they are ready.”

May Bell

Last month, you read about Honeysuckle, who had a broken leg when she was rescued. Tiana says that Honeysuckle has had her cast removed and has moved into foster with May Bell, who was also recovering from a similar leg fracture (that’s May Bell just off to the left).  Kittens are so resilient, and when they know they are cared for, it helps that much more. Thank you for being an ongoing monthly donor. We appreciate your help and know that you care about helping cats as much as we do.

COMINGS AND GOINGS: Mochi (in foster with Drew); Leodis and Gladys (in foster with Tiana); Baklava (in foster with Rey);
Cinereous and her kittens, Boom, Bop, Bam, Blitz, and Blam
The Legend of Zelda: Link, Navi, Midna, and Fi
Tool kits: Kubota, Makita, Ridgid and Milwaukee
Car kittens: Charger, Firebird, Mustang, Supra, Camaro, and Porsche

Erin also provided this image of Porsche, parked atop a toy. She adds, “She was sleeping like this. How is this comfortable?”

Three of the latter group may be seen in the image at the top of the screen.  (From left: Firebird, Porsche, and Camaro.)  Foster mom Erin reports that although at first they were “very nervous … with patience and kindness, they are coming around.”

As for the kittens moving from foster homes to forever homes, lead blogger Angela sums up the month just past, featuring photos of Gladys, Leodis, and Mochi.  There’s also the customary Instagram post that shows June adoptions, including Kitten Fund beneficiaries Reggiano, Mercy, and Whit.

Until next month, I wish you a slightly belated happy National Kitten Day and all good things.

P.S.: If I’m not here next month, it’s because I was hired for this job.
