Update for Pepita

Happy Holidays, Devoted Pepita Sponsors!

I hope that this month of December has been bringing you many moments of joy and good cheer!

Happy to greet any and all visitors!

As we sprint from one holiday to the next in this busy season, Pepita takes it all in with her natural grace and love.

She thoroughly enjoyed the extra attention during Thanksgiving with the Cats on November 23rd, which brought several hundred visitors.  If you stopped by on that busy day, I hope you had a chance to sit with your gentle girl and have a mutual love fest.

It was a day that made my head spin and my heart full: so many devoted Tabby’s Place loyals (kitty sponsors like you and other incredible donors) as well as first-time visitors, taking time out of their busy Saturday to spend time with the cats and the people of Tabby’s Place.

The staff and volunteers did a tremendous job setting up the event and managing the flow of visitors. We always worry about the cats getting too much food on that day, so new approaches were taken to ensure that visitors could still feed several kitties without leaving our residents as stuffed as the turkey!

That day, my role was to greet visitors in the lobby. I loved their excitement upon entering, and then hearing their praise of Tabby’s Place and their love of the cats at the end of their visits. The FeLV+ cats in Quinn’s Corner were a big hit, as was sweet Pepita! We are so lucky to have such a big, amazing community to surround us with love and generosity, as you do!

It reminds me of a quote from the movie Love Actually: “If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love is actually all around.”

Sitting with Heidi and purring away!

One of our dear volunteers, Heidi, who works on Sundays and visits Pepita often, shared a bit about a recent visit with your darling girl: “Sitting on the bench with Pepita, enjoying a late November afternoon, smelling wood smoke from a fireplace, with her gentle purrs rumbling under my fingertips.” There is something so soothing and calming in being with such a loving pumpkin! I’m looking forward to a few visits over the next few weeks with Pepita, and some time on Christmas Day with her, too.

On the medical front, Pepita began losing a bit more hair on her side. We aren’t sure if it is the same issue she has experienced previously, but this time our ace vet team is treating her with a course of steroids, the wonder drug for all sorts of ailments. Her spirits remain high, despite losing a bit of fur. Let’s hope the situation is temporary and that she will be her fluffy, furry self very soon.

Yes, I’m saying this to you, my dear sponsor!

Your steadfast support makes a visible difference in Pepita’s life. You smooth Pepita’s path along the road of day-to-day happiness, ensuring she gets everything she needs to continue her purr-a-thon, to greet her visitors with joy, to enjoy her meals and treats, and to get the care she needs for any health issues that arise. For that, and the love you feel in your heart for this furry baby, I thank you from here to the moon and back.

May the holiday season bring you warm connections, happiness that multiplies, and time to renew your spirit.  And may the New Year bring you the energy to chase your dreams!
