Update for Jude

Update for Jude

Dear Jude friends,

I was really hoping to be able to write that we have had a seizure-free month.  Jude had been doing so well, and it was getting was close to time to write her update, so I thought I was going to be able to give you all good news. Unfortunately, I cannot write that, because a few days ago Jude had a really bad seizure.

The day before the seizure happened I had brought her to Tabby’s Place for the day. She was scheduled to have a photoshoot with one of our wonderful photography volunteers. We are making a Tabby’s Place calendar for 2020 and wanted to feature Jude as one of the cats. I set Jude up in a quiet room and helped our volunteer with the photoshoot. It only took a few minutes, and Jude didn’t seem to mind.
However, as soon as I got her home that day I looked at her and thought “oh-oh.”  I could immediately sense something was wrong, and something was brewing. I watched her closely, and she seemed ok, but just a little off.

The next day, as I was getting home from work, my partner came running out of the house and said Jude had just had a huge seizure. I ran inside to her as fast as I could go. The seizure had passed, but she was very quiet and out of it. I stayed by her side all night and kept a very close eye on her. She did not have another seizure, and by the next morning, she was back to her usual self.

I think the stress of the day before was just too much for her, and we won’t be doing anything like that again. Our senior vet tech said she will come to our house when Jude needs routine bloodwork, and we will only have her leave her safe environment if she really has to.

I felt terrible that I had caused her that stress, and caused a seizure, but that has never happened before when she has been at Tabby’s Place.  We did, however, get some adorable pictures for her calendar page, which will be for sale later this year.

Jude started her own Facebook page! It’s called Judge Jude – hydrocephalus cat, and you can find it here.

Our wonderful Executive Director, Jonathan, choose the name for her page and thought of that name because “Justice is blind,” plus she does tend to judge everything and every one with her larger than life attitude.

We will be sharing pictures and some basic information about Jude on that page, but we will not be sharing the in-depth info about her that we share in her updates to you. The hope is that her page can bring some attention to Tabby’s Place, and the wonderful care it provides for cats like Jude. Please like and share her page, so we can spread the word.

Jude has decided she loves Charlie more than anything and anyone else. He is the only living thing that can do no wrong in Jude’s world. Every day she finds him and snuggles up close to him on the dog bed (there are many cat beds too, but they like the huge dog beds. The poor dogs usually get kicked off their beds). Jude will lay with her legs on Charlie, or pressed up against him. I think he makes her feel safe and secure, and there isn’t a more easy-going cat on the planet than our Charlie. I think Charlie likes being her protector, and he likes snuggling with her too.

That’s all the Jude news for now. As always, thank you all for supporting our Judge Jude, we couldn’t possibly do this without you. Let’s see if we can make her famous! She’s just as cute as all the famous cats out there.
