Update for TNR Fund

Happy almost-autumn, feral friends!

I hope your September is sweeter than cider. Sweetness abides at Tabby’s Place, courtesy of a few good mamas…and a few dozen fabulous babies.

We’re in the last lap of Kitten Season (even as I type that, I know better than to believe it!), but the free-roaming cats still have us dancing as fast as we can. As summer sighed towards fall, we welcomed two more surprisingly-friendly unspayed ladies, each chock-full of kittens.

First to birth her babies was lovely long-haired Bozzie. After two weeks “incubating” her little ones at Tabby’s Place, Mama B. launched into a long, late-night labor that began with terrifying screams. Two of our brave staff members, Jane and Denise, stayed up at Tabby’s Place almost all night with Bozzie, cooing and comforting her through her labor.

And much more than cooing and comforting.

By Kitten #3, Bozzie was so exhausted, she had only enough strength to birth her last little loves. She couldn’t even clean them off, so Denise and Jane helped Boz — you might say they were on doula duty. In the end, as you can see below, six out of six little Bozzlets survived and are thriving.

And then there are Demeter‘s darlings. Sweet as maple syrup from the hour of her arrival, silver-grey Demeter kept her kittens inside a good long time, which got us all a little nervous. But like every good cat mama, she knew when it was her time, and birthed tiny treasures Arion, Plutus, Eubuleus and Amphitheus. Fortunately, as you can see above, their faces are cuter than their names! (And I shall not reveal the name of the Tabby’s Place staff member responsible for those monikers. ;-))

It’s thanks to you that Tabby’s Place can save mama cats like Bozzie and Demeter from the weary cycle of littering kittens, and the hardscrabble life of struggling to provide for them. Since Boz and ‘Meetie are so sweet, they’re leaving motherhood to ultimately become someone’s babies themselves. We have every expectation that these beautiful ladies will each be adopted. As you’d expect, their kittens have already started getting scooped up.

Thank you, dear sponsors, for making all of this possible. It is an ongoing delight serving the Demeters and Bozzies and Amphitheus-es of the world with you. Have a glorious start to fall!
