Update for Sammy

Dear supporters of Sammy,

Happy New Year!

As you know, the New Year is not only the perfect time to be grateful for the wonderful life you have, but also the perfect time to look ahead, be optimistic, and hope that the tiny aggravations of life may somehow be whisked away.

For the past few years, Sammy has had the good fortune of not only living at Tabby’s Place, but also enjoying the companionship of Max. They’ve cuddled together on the chair, squeezed together in the cat tree, and provided comfort and support to each other in all circumstances.

Recently, though, Sammy’s perfect, idyllic existence had been tried by the presence of Leila. Although lovely and charming, this little black-and-white cat somehow managed to get on both Sammy and Max’s last nerves.

I witnessed several of these kitty encounters myself over the past few months. No cat was ever really at fault; it was more a matter of kitties stepping on each other’s toes. One cat would get too close to the other. One cat felt jealous when another cat got too much petting, or got patted first. One cat wanted to spend all her time on the ledge overlooking the window into the lobby, while the other cats also longed to be in that exact space. In any case, small conflicts arose, and the atmosphere in the suite was sometimes a bit tense.

But then something magical happened: Leila was adopted. The one wish we have for all the cats at Tabby’s Place is that they find their forever homes. This wish came true for Leila over the holidays, and, accordingly, it had a chain reaction effect on Sammy and Max.

Now Sammy and Max are free to hang out together without fear of stepping on Leila’s toes. They can relax on the window ledge and gaze into the lobby. They can stretch out on the chair without fear of Leila wandering a bit too close for their own personal comfort. Their wishful thinking actually came true!

And what’s the moral of the story? Well, sometimes wishful thinking and dreams can come true. And the good fortune of one kitty can lead to the good fortune of another.

Sammy and I wish you a wonderful start to your new year. We thank you for your continued generosity, and we hope that your New Year’s wishes also come true!
