Update for Rose

Update for Rose

Hi y’all, it is time for March madness, Tabby’s Place style.

I am not talking about election primaries or basketball championships, but springtime activities.  As the chilly weather hibernates until next winter, springtime is making its way to the sanctuary along with lots of activities, visitors, adopters, and new volunteers.  We had a busy winter with adoptions, and I predict that the spring will bring even more homes to the kitties.  Thank you, Mr. Groundhog, for your prediction of an early spring!

Change is a good thing.  I moved my “preferred lobby lounge area” from the rear of the lobby to a plush cat bed positioned against the front door.  No worries, this is the door that does not open.  Wow, what a beautiful wonderland I see from my new cat bed.  I can greet volunteers, visitors, and delivery persons with amazing boxes.  I get tickled pink when a visitor asks if they can “pet me.”  These are magic words, as I love being petted and am even receptive to gentle belly rubs.

I look out the lobby doors and can see the flower buds starting to come to life, and the green, green grass.  Tabby’s Place has the most beautiful green grass that I have ever seen.  Sometimes I daydream about one day running through the grass.  I also picture myself in a cat stroller with the sun on my face and a warm breeze blowing my fur.  I get lost in my thoughts until I spot the volunteer feeder strolling through the lobby with the lunch tray.  You can count on me, as I continue to do my part to help clean up (or clean out) food containers in the lobby.  So important to keep things tidy.

Lordy, I am smitten with our newest lobby resident, a li’l boy named Cotton, who traveled over 5000 miles from Lebanon.  His name fits because he looks like a cute li’l white cotton ball.  He is a Persian cat, and sometimes his spirit and zest for life remind me of my late friend Jonathan, the lobby cat.  I keep an eye on Cotton because he is still a youngin’, and I want to teach him the Tabby’s Place way.  I thought I was fast; Cotton is a lightning bolt of youth!

I have a funny story to share.  My correspondent was at Tabby’s Place recently after we closed for the day.  This is the time that I get my yummy dinner and settle into the cat bed in my crate.  My diapie is off and I am happy as a peach pie.  My correspondent walked through the lobby to wish me sweet dreams and went into a panic when she did not see me in my crate.  I could hear her calling loudly “Rose, Rose, where are you?”  Our Executive Director was in his office and he reassured her that, “I saw Rose 10 minutes ago.”  My correspondent approached my crate with caution and a few tears in her eyes.  She opened the crate door and felt around, and low and behold I was burrowed under a giant blanket. We both had a good laugh; she was so relieved that I was safe and sound.

There is a lot of talk about my diapie removal performance 2-3 times a day.  I think that I have been outsmarted (in a good way) by the staff.  They bought the most precious, beautiful, southern belle diapies that I have ever seen.  Pretty patterns and most have ruffles or ribbons on the bottom area.  My new diapies are purrfect for a li’l black-and-white southern belle.  I also cannot easily remove them, not that I want to.  My correspondent is sharing several diapie pics with you this month because you are family.

Health update…all is good, nothing to report!!

I do declare, every day is a celebration with you as my sponsor.  Thank you for caring about me, and for your support.  This month we are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, and you know how I love celebrations, things that are positive and make us all smile.

I hope your St. Patty’s day is as rich as gold and as colorful as a rainbow.  Sending you whisker kisses, four-leaf clovers, and a few St. Patty’s Day photos!

Love,
Rose
