Update for Newman

Dear Newman sponsors,

This is a fabulous month for Newman, as his days have become, more and more, solarium days. It is where he is happiest. I found him resting deliriously happy on his pedestal in the solarium. It doesn’t get a whole lot better than that!

Here’s some old news made new: Newman has FIV. Why would that possibly be news? Recent developments in FIV testing led us to retest all the cats in Suite FIV. Previously, any cat who had been vaccinated for FIV would test positive for the virus, even if he was not infected. A new test can now distinguish between truly positive cats and vaccinated cats, so we ran this test on Newman and all his roommates. As it happens, every one of them is truly FIV+. But no worries, Newman is enjoying stable good health.

In other Suite FIV news, poor Wolfie has a recurring issue with ‘moving things along’. He has been put on medication for ‘gastric motility’ for the forseeable future. And while recent newcomer Amos had lost weight, we fixed that problem by simply placing the food near him. He has gained over two pounds.

It appears that Mr. Grey Fluffy Pants (pictured above — so darn photogenic, isn’t he?) won’t be Newman’s BFF anytime soon. Newman has sought out Mr. GFP and head-bumped him in a sign of friendship, but Mr GFP is just not interested. So be it.

This doesn’t ruffle the ever-sunny Newman, who is romping through spring with summery joy. And, much as he loves the solarium, all it takes to bring him back indoors is the faintest sound of a human voice. Wherever the humans are, Newman will come bounding down ramps to be close to us.

So, fellow humans and Newman adorers, our hearts are filled with gratitude for your devotion to our sweet boy. May these spring months bring you much joy, as you bring to Newman every single day.

Until next month,
