Update for Mary

Happy October to my favorite humans!

It’s a glorious time of year here at Tabby’s Place, and I am enjoying every moment of it. We exceeded our fundraising goal as the Linda Fund, our annual matching donation event, came to a close. Thanks to all of you, our fabulously generous donors, we kitties will continue to enjoy the supremely wonderful care available here in our unique sanctuary.

I hear from my many human admirers that it is also a fun time of year outside our little world too. Since I don’t tend to venture through the ramp out to our solarium I haven’t seen this for myself, but I hear that we are also experiencing the beginning of autumn in New Jersey. This means the leaves on the trees are slowly changing from green into gorgeous shades of gold, orange, and red. The air is developing a crispy chill and humans are starting to plan their costumes for Halloween.

My correspondent told me during her most recent visit that her “go-to” Halloween costume as a child was a cat. How appropriate! She explained how her older sister would draw whiskers on her face with liquid eyeliner, and she can still remember how excited she’d be to go out trick or treating. I can’t easily relate to this once-a-year treat concept, since I’m lucky enough to have humans bringing me treats pretty much every day of the year. Being a real cat every single day sounds a whole lot better than dressing up as a cat just once a year!

While my correspondent was visiting, she heard a few other volunteers chatting about me. They were saying
how reliably sweet and friendly I always am. It made her smile to hear that, and of course she made sure to tell me. I’m just a happy girl, so why wouldn’t I adore any and all attention? My life is chock full of gleeful play and delicious food and decadent napping. What more could a girl want?I hope you enjoy the pictures I’m attaching to this month’s update. My correspondent wanted you to see how enthusiastically I press my fluffy face into her hand when she pets me. I can never get enough pets!

You may have heard that one of my roomies and best friends, Rose, moved to our lobby recently. I hear that she is loving her new space

and all the attention she gets from visitors. I miss her, of course, but I have new roomies now who I’m sure will soon be my

newest best friends.

I’m just one of those kitties who can get along with anybody and bring joy to everyone around

me. In fact, I’ve heard our staff call me one of the happiest cats they’ve ever known. Even when life isn’t

purrfect — like this month when I had a mild case of inflammation in one of my eyes — I still keep my furry grey chin

up. It was easily resolved with medication, and I am just so grateful every day for the medical care I receive here.

All thanks to you!

So I hope you channel your inner child during this month of Halloween treats. Treat yourself to something special,

whatever that means to you. Remember that I love you with all of my fierce furry might, and I can’t thank you enough

for everything you do for me! Until next month, be good to yourself.

Love, Mary
