Update for Kitten Fund

Kitten season has officially begun!

Tabby’s Place is already home to two litters (including one adoptee) and one expecting cat mom! Apple and her five babes (Cameo, Gala, Macintosh, Baldwin, and Braeburn) are thriving in foster care, as is mom-to-be Talia. Brand new mom Tiana already has her paws full with five little ones (Louie, Naveen, Raymond, Marlon, and Euduro) but was kind enough to take in little Maeve—who was found all alone at just one day old— as one of her own.

That’s a lot of babies already! Once they’re old enough, they’ll join the Kitten Room to make new friends and find their forever homes.

For now the Kitten Room is still home to our teenage crew, with two new members: Aech and Artemis. This brings the black teenage kitten tally up to five now that they’ve joined CornPop, Lucas, and Noodle .

The shy boys are coming along thanks to the love and devotion of the Tabby’s staff and volunteers. I learned a few weeks back that super shy Cornpop can’t resist the laser pointer! Since then he’s become curious enough to give me a sniff, which is major progress from just a month ago when he was huddled in a cubby, terrified. Noodle is downright friendly these days. Lucas is still pretty skittish, but he’s coming along.

Also new to the Kitten Room is a sweet black and white girl named Cassie (pictured below left) who will happily take over your lap and soak up every bit of love you can muster. So far Cassie is doing just fine holding her own against all the boys, though she and Tiger don’t see eye-to-eye. Cassie was just adopted so that’s great news!!

Big boy Tiger has discovered the wonder of the sink and loves to play in the water or just lounge in the cool round metal bowl. He can play a little too rough with the cats that are smaller than him, which is the root of Cassie’s ire, but most of the time he gets along with everybody just fine.

Last but not least, the room’s den mother Venga is doing great! She’s discovering that people are pretty nice and not at all scary like she thought. She loves having her chin and cheeks petted and scratched and can be just as playful as her younger roommates.

We’re still hoping to find forever homes for our teenagers before the tidal wave of kittens comes in, as we know it will. Until then we’ll keep loving them to pieces while we wait to meet all the tiny new friends to come.

Have a wonderful month and stay tuned for more updates on the antics in the Kitten Room!
