Update for Babs

Dearest sponsors:

I’ve been asked to correspond for Babs. I have been volunteering at Tabby’s Place for six years, and have always had a special place in my heart for Babs.

When she isn’t sleeping, I take some time to give her the special “Babs petting routine” – which is a little scratch on her nose and then gentle pets her head. She always enjoys this. When she’s had enough, she gives me the special “Babs thank you” – which is swatting at me.

Babs usually likes the solitude of a cubby, cat tree or a crate. As you know, last month, the staff gave her a small crate known as “Babs’ Place,” where she could escape from the ever-energetic kittens. That was nice for a while, but now the kittens have been adopted, and the Community Room is quiet. Babs is taking advantage of the temporary calm by venturing out of her hiding places. On my last visit, she was happily basking in the spring sun on a chair at the conference table.

In medical news, Babs is weighed weekly, and her weight has decreased a very small amount this month. It was also noted that Babs has vomited on a few occasions. Since this hasn’t been too frequent or severe, at the moment she is being treated with a probiotic sprinkled into her wet food, plus medication on an as-needed basis. Despite her ailments and age, Babs seems quite content, and she’s not too old to give Peachy or Brielle a good whack if they step out of line. 🙂

We would like to give thanks to all of you for caring so much for this very dear senior girl. We hope you have a wonderful month.
