Update for Rose

Dear Fans and Followers,

This has been a pretty amazing journey y’all! Sometimes I can’t believe that that I went from critically ill to where I am today. My fight is not over, and I know that I could not have made it without the love and support of you my wonderful sponsor. I thank you with all of my heart!

Are y’all sitting down? I have some big news to share. I have departed from my temporary residence in the Tabby’s Place hospital and now this black and white southern kitty is a lobby cat! Yes, a lobby cat! When I was a lil’ itty bitty kitty living in the old Special Needs Suite (now the kitten room), I would spend most of the day looking out through the window into the lobby. I was fascinated by all of the activity of visitors, staff, volunteers and cats. Deep down I wished that I was in the lobby. Now I am! The first few days were a bit strange: I was in a crate, so staff could monitor my eating and bathroom (to be sure I was alright). It also gave me time to get familiar with the smells and sounds of my new roommates, and vice versa. My correspondent sat next to me on a thick towel and and kept me company while I got used to my new surroundings. One day I was allowed to go outside for a stroller ride. The fresh air on my fur felt good and was such a nice change from being confined indoors while recuperating.

I have another surprise to share — I am allowed back into solarium A. My correspondent wraps me in a towel like a baby cat and carries me from the lobby into the solarium. She holds me up to see the pretty butterflies in Cherny’s Garden. The flowers in the garden are so beautiful and colorful. Some lil’ birds stopped by the feeder to say hi. If I had my druthers I would live in the solarium 24/7! Once I felt comfortable, my correspondent put me down to walk around and find a perfect spot to rest. For my safety (until I am fully recovered), I am not allowed to climb on the solarium ramp, and my correspondent guards the ramp with her body! I had fun walking around and greeting my old roommates Steven , Adam and Pepita . I also met a new cute little tabby named Abe.

As a lobby cat I greet visitors and am a Tabby’s Place goodwill ambassador. Because occasional leaking is common for many cats who are incontinent (like me), I have been gifted with a cute diaper to wear in the lobby. At night the diaper comes off, yeah! I’ve also been fitted for a custom diaper that has an opening in the back for my lil’ bunny tail.

Just when I thought things could not get any better, one of my dear supporters stopped by for a visit. I was so honored. The visit was fun, and she brought a bag of toys for the Tabby’s Place cats. I was given a catnip banana and could not have been any happier. The generosity that I have received from so many is really touching. One of my volunteer friends gave me
“Marge,” a stuffed animal cow that resembles me!

My medical update this month is a positive one. I saw my neurologist, and he was amazed by how well I was doing. The last time he saw me I was in very poor shape. My walking is improving, and I think the most visible trace of the infection that went into my brain is a slight head tilt. I have been told that the head tilt makes me look pretty as a cute peach, which makes me blush. My neurologist will see me later this month — paws crossed for more good news!

For the past few years I regularly heard how important The Linda Matching Fund was for Tabby’s Place cats in need of life-saving emergency and specialty care. I know many of these cats. My heart is so full of love for Tabby’s Place because when I was at the height of my illness they did not spare any medical expense to help me. The word “no” was never uttered when considering my treatment options. Tabby’s Place has a generous and caring group of benefactors and corporate champions, who match every dollar donated to the Linda Fund. It is great news that The Linda Fund has been extended until the end of September, and many more cats, including me, can be helped by clicking here.

Thank you for being there for me! Until next month, the luckiest lil’ southern black and white cat sends you whisker kisses!
