Special Need: FIV+
Have you ever met someone so exuberant they simply seemed to ‘glow?’ With his rich ginger coat, bright amber eyes and colossal personality, our Thomas is one of those glow-y somebodies. The first thing you notice about Thomas are his size-grande good looks, as he’s an especially handsome marmalade boy. Reach out to pet him and you’ll find that he may just have the softest fur you’ve ever touched. And once you’re showing Thomas some affection, you’re his buddy – our Thomas loves to be loved.
What Thomas doesn’t love all that much is the competition of other felines. At around eight years of age, Thomas has a history of living as an only cat, so he isn’t entirely thrilled with his ten roommates. Although he’s made his point to fellow felines with his gigantic orange paw more than once, Thomas is in no way a mean cat – just insistent about being the center of attention and doting affection. And dote you do, once you meet him; that beautiful face combined with his outgoing, “look-at-me! Look-at-me!” ways is always successful at winning Thomas the affection he craves.
However, Thomas’ quest for affection in a forever home is complicated by his FIV+ status. FIV+ cats have been infected with the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This virus disables or destroys the white blood cells, and leaves the cat susceptible to infections. Once a cat is infected with FIV, he has the virus for life. Like Nuttin, Jasper and all our FIV+ cats, Thomas likely contracted the virus from a bite when living outdoors as a stray.
Our marmalade wonder would surely bring his warm glow to any home lucky enough to adopt him. However, we realize that his FIV+ status diminishes his chances of being adopted. Won’t you be a friend to this golden boy by becoming his monthly sponsor?
