Cypress

The wry twinkle in Cypress,s eye makes perfect sense given her storied past — she,s seen it all and lived to tell about it. She,s got a little crook in her tail, and there,s a small nick in her left ear, which not only proves she once lived on her own and had to fend for herself, but it also gives her a kind of tough-girl charm, like a feisty old dame in the Wild West — Annie Oakley or Calamity Jane — slinging whiskey and holding court at the bar, entertaining all the cowboys and saloon girls with her quick wit and salty humor. She even sounds a little hoarse now and then (the result of occasional respiratory congestion, but we like to blame it on all those Virginia Slims she smoked in her rowdy youth).

These days, Miss Cypress likes to perch on one of the upper shelves in her suite and watch all the activity from a respectable distance. In fact, even though she loves other cats, she,s become quite reserved in her middle-age, taking her own sweet time to trust new people. She,ll probably always have a bit of that wild spirit, but give her a little time and perhaps a treat or two (she,s got a particular weakness for baby food), and she,ll purr her way right into your heart.
