Behavior modification

Thurman is a bit of a complicated dude, but we are working on getting to know him better.

When Thurman first arrived at Tabby’s Place, he immediately made a name for himself as one of our most “spirited” cats. He was clearly unhappy in a cage and made his unhappiness widely known. We moved him to a separate room by himself for a few months to try and tackle his behavioral needs, but he just didn’t seem to act like your typical cat and wasn’t happy in there either.

Thurman, however, is surprising us by showing us that he can behave now that he has been moved into one of our regular suites. Thurman seems to truly enjoy the company of other cats and has been seen checking out all his new feline roommates and even giving one of them a bath. We are glad that Thurman seems to be finding comfort in being around other cats and that his attitude seems to be a little less wily.

Thurman will need a very special adopter who is willing to work with him on his behavioral needs. We are currently working on finding the best way to address his lashing out at people and would be willing to coordinate with any adopter to make sure that he makes the best transition possible to home life. Given that he seems to like other cats, he would likely do best in a multi-cat household.
