Recovering from injury – on cage rest

With the many special needs cats that we take care of, many of our felines are sent to an emergency veterinary office at one point or another. We are incredibly thankful for all the vet staff do for our cats and the great care that they provide. When one employee from their organization reached out to us about an injured stray, however, we knew we had to answer the call.

Dorito was found by a Good Samaritan after he had been hit by a car. The damage to one of his back legs was fairly extensive, but repairable. Thankfully, the crushed bones were able to be surgically stabilized and this lucky orange tabby, nicknamed “Stray Dorito,” came to us for recovery and to hopefully find a home.

Dorito instantly won over the staff’s hearts. Despite his condition, Dorito was friendly and charming. He had to wear a cone for several weeks in order to ensure that his stitches would heal and his leg was painful, but he never became cranky or upset. Everytime we would visit him in quarantine, he would meow hopefully and try to scoot himself closer to the door of his cage, looking for attention. All he wanted was to share his love and demonstrate his gratitude to us.

Dorito’s leg is healing very nicely and we don’t anticipate that he will have any long-term mobility issues. While he still has a ways to go in terms of recovery, we are very hopeful that he will quickly find a family when he is healed. He is young and healthy other than his injury. Could you be Dorito’s forever family? Come and visit him any day from 12 to 5PM!
