It isn’t uncommon for cats new to Tabby’s Place to be nervous. And, that has certainly proven to be the case for Jefferson. He’s one of those felines who has a very mellow personality when you’re with him one-on-one, but this gentle guy is fragile and still adjusting to his new life at Tabby’s Place. Early this year Jefferson found himself homeless and then in a crowded municipal shelter where he had little chance of adoption. When it was clear Jefferson needed some extra special attention and patience before he would be adoptable, he moved again to Tabby’s Place.
All of these transitions have left Jefferson scared and unsettled. Slowly, we are gaining his trust. In the moments when he feels he can open up, he enjoys petting and is very affectionate. Jefferson needs a home with loving owner who can offer him patience and stability. With just a little extra TLC his confidence will build again, and he will return to the sweet, gentle companion he wants to be.
