Sweet Stafford will melt your heart. Perhaps that is why he’s earned a coveted living space in our executive director’s office. Although this essentially positions Stafford as the Tabby’s Place feline-in-charge, he wonders why he hasn’t yet been promoted to a house of his own. He would love to retire to a life of purring on laps and napping in sunbeams.

Known formerly as “Porch Cat,” Stafford was found—bedraggled, flea-bitten, and injured—by a Good Samaritan in the Atlantic City area. He was taken in with war wounds from wildlife attacks and a permanent case of the sniffles. Stafford presented several health issues, but his caretaker loved him so much and she brought him to Tabby’s Place. Here, his diabetes is easily managed, and he received surgery to reduce his nasal congestion.

Stafford is so grateful for the care he has received that he decided to pay it forward: he is a certified therapy animal and one of eight Tabby’s Place cats in the Aged to Purrfection program. Stafford visits local assisted living centers and brings cheer and cuddles to their residents. He is gentle with cats and people alike, and capable of winning over even those who most stubbornly insist, “But I’m a dog person!”

This leonine gentleman will make a special household very happy (and, if you have a home office, you’ll find in him a willing, furry assistant.). If you do not have a place in your home for Stafford, but you do have a place in your heart, consider a monthly sponsorship to help fund his care. Our feline-in-charge welcomes visitors during our public hours. Please see our Visit Us page for updated information.
