Paws to Read allows children  read to some of our cats, which encourages  children to read, and gives the cats attention:

  • The program is run by a certified NJ teacher.
  • Each session is 15-60 minutes, depending on the child.
  • The program is open to kids aged 5 – 11 years.
  • A guardian must stay in the building while the kids read. The parent does not need to be in the room, but can wait in the lobby.
  • Parents and kids must sign a Pledge before beginning the program. Parents must sign a photo release.
  • All kids need to sign in at the beginning of their reading session, and sign out when they leave.
  • Kids can bring their own books to read, or use the books we have at Tabby’s Place.
  • Each time a kid reads they will get a sticker for their bookmark. If they get 4 stickers they win a prize.
