Guest post: Acquaintances auld and new

IMG_0081It’s the cusp of a shiny new year.

As we toast these waning hours of 2014, let’s sing for old friends…and one wondrous new guest blogger.

There are kittens, there are children, there are teens and tweens and adultolescents…and then there are ageless marvels.

Tara falls into the latter category.

Although chronologically younger than most of our Lobby cats, Tara has the wisdom of wonder. With her heart wide open to the glory in the ordinary, she experiences our cats as they really are: perpetually worthy of delight.

So it was a joy when Tara’s mom — an extraordinary human in her own right — asked if Tara might pen a guest post for Felis Catus.

No, I said, she may not write one post.
She may, however write many posts.

The following is the first of Tara’s feline interviews. Take it away, Tara:

Hobbes is a beautiful orange and white tabby who just LOVES humans. If anyone sits next to him — BOOM — he is on your lap.

I find this amazing, because so many humans were mean to him. But, as Jonathan would probably say, “Don’t hate the person; love the cat.”

IMG_0089Now here are some words from our favorite cat.

“Hello,” I said to Hobbes. “How do you do?”
“Very well, thank you. Do sit down, I don’t bite!”

I sat down and — BOOM — he was on my lap.

“So, Hobbes, what is your favorite movie phrase?”
“’Hi, my name is Hobbes, and I like warm laps!’”

“Let’s see…oh, Hobbes, how did you become so popular?”
“My big moon eyes. Some people call them puppy dog eyes, but I disagree.”

One more thing: it is very hard to leave Hobbes when you do not want to.

Take some time to see this beautiful cat when you drop by Tabby’s Place.

And take some time to have a happy New Year, kittens. May you blend the wisdom of the young and the glory of the old for one golden-good year.

Happy New Year, Hobbes. Happy New Year, Tara. Happy New Year, all you lovers of life and cats. You are so very loved.
