How the West was (really) won

by Angela | Category: Tabby's Place

cat-cowboy-hat1Today’s blog post will be a bit shorter than usual, since we’re all in a whirlwind of preparations for the circus unfolding at Tabby’s Place this Saturday. (More on said circus tomorrow.)

But, I trust this post will make up in “awesome” what it lacks in length.

Over the years, Tabby’s Place alumni have traveled with their people to Oregon, Florida and various and sundry points around New Jersey. But, as far as I know, two colossal grey-and-white guys are the first to have made it to the great American southwest.

Everything from hats to the sky seems especially vast in the southwest. So it’s only fitting that the new sheriffs in a certain Arizona town are none other than super-sized Petey and “Everything’s Bigger in Texas” Tex. Along with Tabby’s Place volunteer Dodgerzdad, the big guys (and their far daintier sister Nola) made the move this summer.

I asked Dodgerzdad recently if he had any pearls of wisdom from this major three-cat relocation. His words were few but wise: “Only that I was needlessly more stressed about moving them here than they were.” But who among us can’t sympathize with the stress of moving three cats nearly 3,000 miles? I can’t cast the first (or 1,000,000th) stone here; I worry if Webster seems to be scratching his ear at a funny angle.

But as often, it’s the cats who seem to have gotten it right here: don’t worry, be happy. Dodgerzdad was kind enough to share this photo of the boys, revealing their massive amounts of stress.

At this point, only one question remains. If big things are big in the southwest, when is Dodgerzdad going to make his family just a leeeeeeetle bit bigger?

To be specific: when will he complete the grey-and-white trifecta by coming back east for Chopper? ;-)

Wow — Chopper would fit right in with these guys — Look at the size of these boys!!

=) We’re all rooting for Chopper! What an awesome family!

Those are some very chilled out big cats. I feel more mellow just looking at them. :) By the way, Chopper called and said he has always loved both Arizona and washing machine/dryer combos. He’ll be waiting by the phone for your reply. :)

In my defense, it’s always more stressful being the servant. My arms and legs are still tired from carrying them across the country on a rickshaw.

  5. dodgerzdad says:

Oh yeah, and I love the cat with the cowboy hat and bandanna. I’m sure Petey and Tex would gladly welcome having me dressing them with that attire with open claws.

Your fellow Tuesday crew misses you, dodgerzdad. Glad you all made it out there safely, and we wish you (human & otherwise) well!!! Come visit sometime soon!
