No news is good news in Gradyville

by Angela

GradyFirst of all, my apologies on not posting about our beloved boy sooner. I think I have the happiest possible excuse: there has been a wonderful absence of medical news for Grady!

But, I’m always happy to talk about the tabby boy I adore, so when folks in the Felis Catus community started clamoring for fresh Grady news, I was delighted to pen an update. Continue reading » » »

In Memorial: Ringo

by Jonathan

ringoI have known & loved many, many cats in my life.  Each is wonderful in his or her own way.  But Ringo was one of the most magnificent and well-loved cats it has been my privilege to know and care for.

Ringo was loved by all who met him but was not seriously considered for adoption for several years due to his age and illnesses.  But, much to our joy, he was adopted by a wonderful couple in early February of this yeat.

So, naturally, I’m doubly smitten with the boys from Islip, BFFs Brando and Rusty.

Help: There’s a Cat Trapped in my Phone!

by Jonathan

iphone_ikitten_230I don’t own an iPhone so I can’t vouch for this app, but it does look pretty cool for you (er, us) crazy cat people.  It’s a virtual cat for your iPhone.

You remember the “virtual pet” craze from a few years ago?  Well, this is the same thing in a new package.

For (Sweet) Pete’s sake

by Angela

Sweet PeteI’m with T.S. Eliot on the topic of cat names: each feline deserves no less than three, and one of those can be known only to the cat himself. For day-to-day use, every cat needs a “sensible everyday name,” and, at Tabby’s Place, that generally means the name that she came with from her shelter of origin.

But sometimes, a cat comes to us tagged with a name that is, well, wrong - like “Grumpy,” or “Gray Cat,” or “#0972,” and something just must be done. And so it was with Sweet Pea.
