If you hear that a cat was living outside as part of a large colony, you’d say the chances are that the cat was feral, or at least not very friendly to people. But in Jake’s case, you’d be wrong. He and brother JJ, also at Tabby’s Place, have been handled by people throughout their lives, and Jake in particular is very friendly with humans; we’ve been told he enjoys sitting on peoples’ shoulders.

Jake is an all-black male, medium in size, with medium-length fur. He looks as though he has just one eye, but he actually has both; this is due to a condition called microphthalmia, in which a cat’s eye is smaller than normal. Jake isn’t good pals with many other felines, but he absolutely adores his brother (JJ looks exactly like Jake, except both of his eyes are regular-sized). Jake and JJ snuggle together and groom one another, and it’s ridiculously cute. We are not mandating that the two be adopted together, but we’d like any potential adopter to consider adopting both cats.

We know that Jake will make the right person or family very happy.
